Painter of the Night’s thirty-first episode brings if not emotional honesty, sexual honesty between Nakyum and Seungho. With nowhere left to run, from himself or his desires, Nakyum is forced to accept the truth of the pleasure along with Seungho’s anger.
Seungho leaves Nakyum nowhere to hide. It’s like Nakyum was living in a hole, behind a rock, and Seungho came and brought the sun.
Seungho calls him out… and brings him a mirror so he can see the truth for himself. And he’s right. Nakyum has been running and running, from everyone and everything in his life. But seungho won’t let him run, won’t let him give up, won’t let him hide anything.
And while his methods are autocratic and high handed, isn’t that what a lover is supposed to help you do? Call you to attention to yourself? Call you out when you try to hide?
Seungho may not understand the emotional stuff, but neither does Nakyum. All he knows is how to fuck. And in this he can absolutely lead Nakyum. At least this way, both he and Seungho can’t mistake or deny the pleasure on his own face.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s enough to get them to the other side of the raging river.
