The angst of Painter of the Night’s fortieth episode is enough to make you want to fight on Nakyum’s behalf. But not Seungho. Seungho is the only pragmatic person here… strange huh?
Seungho’s worldliness and Nakyum’s innocence are never more stark than in this episode.
Although Nakyum is being taught the ways of his body by Seungho, Nakyum has so little knowledge of his own heart. I find myself siding with Seungho when he says he simply doesn’t understand and empathise with his disapproval.Nakyum is out with his lover, has just left sexy time at the tailor, and the second he sees the notice about the civil examinations, he blushes and lights up like he thinks some shit is happening in his life. And Seungho, already without much restraint, has to look at this lover of his so obviously fawning over a trash bucket. I’m with you Seungho, I don’t understand either Boo. Not for shit.
Seungho knows Inhun is trash. He knew it the first time the crossed swords at Innhun’s place. The reason why he was able to even gain leverage over Nakyum at all is because Inhun is weak. So very fucking weak and easily motivated by his selfish aims.
And while Seungho is hardly any better, he knows he feels something for Nakyum, and in more than just a tease… puts the red dot on his forehead, signifying a desire to marry him.
The subtlety of Seungho saying this to Nakyum, “I desire you, why are you so fascinated by someone else”, again, pushes Nakyum into pondering serious matters. The absolute necessity of Seungho asking Nakyum, “What will you gain if Jung In-hun passes the civil examination?” and Nakyum’s shock because he hadn’t even considered it.
I won’t spoil the entire chapter, but we really need to round up a posse and go shred Inhun, that Dry Twat, because if he says one more shitty fucking thing…. ooooh, this bitch has to come to a bad end. I will settle for nothing less than agony for Inhun.
The only thing that he’s ever said I thought was the absolute truth was when he neatly observed Nakyum’s habit of lying. If these two significant men have identified this character flaw in Nakyujm, honestly we the readers must examine all that we know of Nakyum to this point. We may think of him as sweet and innocent, but he is not. We think of Seungho as dark and irredeemable, but he is not.
Sooooo much going on, but all of it is hurting my BB! (T_T) Seungho practically calls him a girl and a fool for love (even if his target of affection is a total trash can…) and then In-Hun absolutely destroys him from the soul up and called him a whore. My Na-Kyum needs a break or I’m going to start breaking some faces.
