It’s never too late to find love or happiness and Jordyn’s search begins at 35. Will he choose his young new recruit Simon? Or perhaps his first and only gay best friend Owen? A true testament to a good story (no matter how large or small) is being able to push the reader past their comfort zone or usual interests, without making it uncomfortable.
For myself, I normally avoid real love triangles or stories with outright cheating, simply because it’s not my thing. I say real because lots of story’s hint, but it’s obvious who the chosen two will be, and the third is just thrown in for dramatic affect. However, mix in a unique back story, time the scenes just right, add a smidgen of dub-con, a funny plot, a seke couple, and deliciously drawn characters in steamy scenes, and apparently that’s the secret recipe for me. This series had me wrapped all around its cheating little triangle-having finger and I am 100% ok with it.
The intimacy displayed in this was top tier. I’m not talking just smut; I mean real intimacy. Gentle kisses, holding and supporting, whispered promises and serious eye contact.
When **** growls, “I’ll show you who you belong to tonight”, you can practically see the feral tension as he pounces.
**** whispered murmurs “I’m glad I’m the only one who gets to see you like this. You are so precious and beautiful” pair oh so sweetly with gentle caresses.
Smut for the soul folx, drink it in. (Names redacted to keep the MC’s a secret, hehehe)
This series was surprisingly realistic in certain aspects, tackling subjects like divorce, going through a metamorphosis at a later stage of life, homophobic comments, beginning or ending relationships and even the subject of death. But there is closure and resolution, with happiness for everyone so there is no bitter aftertaste, nor is there especially difficult parts to push through. Overall, it’s very lighthearted, and at 48 chapters with 2 side stories, it’s a very quick read.
Side note: The first 3 chapters hop around a little but be patient, it will all make sense shortly. Scenes that look repeated are due to covering that particular scene in greater detail.
