Barbarian war prisoner with a hidden secret? Tongue-in-cheek verbal sparring? Chiseled MC’s? Sign me up!

The back and forth between Oliver and Tarje is a hoot. So much innuendo and ribbing, I was grinning through the majority of the chapters. The overall flow was smooth, easy to follow and I adore the artwork. Did I mention my love of long haired warrior types, toned bodies with serious pound cake, wicked grins and playful pouting? Because, yes.

Right off the bat, I connected with the beginning chapters due to my love of all things supernatural and mysterious. All it took was one (admittedly) sus move on Tarje’s part, and now Oliver’s (eye) balls deep in research, embracing the supernatural answer over ‘reality’ without hesitation. Here for it!

Plus the entire scene was giving me Bella / Edward vibes. Say it, out loud… forest fairy. I kid, I kid; but it was a humorous situation and I enjoyed trying to guess as well. I also appreciated the deviation from the usual legends and myths; a fresh new take that still fits with the standard narrative.

There is some minor TW for reference and depiction of torture, but it’s very mild and the overall mood of the series is light. Dark undertones are easily overshadowed by the layers of humor and budding relationship. This series is still in the starting phases, but with each update, I look forward to seeing how things pan out. Will the uncle find out, or worse yet, take things too far? Who will make the first move? Will Tarje ever get his pillow or pants back? Do we want him to?
