We learned back in November 2020 that the Sasaki and Miyano manga from Sho Harusono had arrived with a nod that it’s getting an anime adaptation. The series saw a January 9th, 2022 premiere and a second season is coming but the first season is getting some new attention.
Crunchyroll has now added it to their service with both the subtitled and dubbed versions as this property has migrated from the Funimation side, giving Crunchyroll viewers a really solid show to check out.
Shinji Ishihara is directing with Takahiro Ueno assisting based on the series composition by Yoshiko Nakamura. Maki Fuji is adapting the characters with Studio DEEN handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Yusuke Shirai as Shūmei Sasaki
- Sōma Saitō as Yoshikazu Miyano
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Taiga Hirano
- Yūki Ono as Jirō Ogasawara
- Yūma Uchida as Masato Hanzawa
- Ryohei Arai as Tasuku Kuresawa
- Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Gonsaburō Tashiro
Miracle Chimpanzee is handling the opening with “Mabataki” while Yusueki Shirai and Soma Saito as the series leads will sing the ending theme song “Ichigo Sunset” as their characters.
The manga from Sho Harusono began in 2016 on pixiv and is published in print by Kadokawa with seven volumes out as of November 2020. It’s produced a novelization and a spin-off manga as well. The manga saw an OAD bundled with its ninth volume that’s set to come out on July 27th, 2022. It’ll feature a story drafted by original creator Harusono for it.
