Seungho’s trauma continues to haunt in the eighty-fourth episode of Painter of The Night (Yahwacheop). After spending a night hunting in the woods, lost in the morass of his thoughts, Seungho returns in the morning to look for Nakyum…
This episode is interesting to me because of Nakyum’s responses.
He wants to know what happened to Seungho’s hands. He wants to know why Seungho can’t sleep properly. He wants to know… more about Seungho. 
And this is significant development for Nakyum. That he is trying to find ways to empathise and connect with Seungho is significant.More, Nakyum resisted Seungho with success for the first time!
I mean, they were playing around… and Seungho’s deference to Nakyum these days makes it easy to win against him… and Seungho is especially conciliatory after the incident from the previous night.
So despite us knowing Seungho could easily overpower him, Nakyum slows him down and then peppers him with questions…
And Seungho rebuffs him.
Which, considering where this character currently is, I understand. He hasn’t even begun to process his traumas… and he’s used sex as medication against that pain… and while he has feelings for Nakyum, he is keeping his life rigidly compartmentalised. I like that Seungho’s trying to reach nakyum, but Seungho is nowhere near ready to share his inner world with Nakyum.
Nakyum has no framework for that… shucks, comes from a completely different world from Seungho. in this culture, they barely speak the same cultural language. Communication between them is always hard because of this.
What is significant, is that up until the last panel, these two are growing into each other… but that last panel, it was like Seungho shut it all down because it made him so uncomfortable.
“I’ve never required that of you.”
Uggh! Baby… you’re running scared.

Seungho you need fucking therapy and a strongly regimented med plan. Think. About. What. He’s. Asking. Then. At. What. You. Yourself. Have. Asked. Or. Just. Taken. From. Him. And. Finally. Look. At. Your. Response.
Get over/power through your power trip, bruised ego, childhood trauma and just answer the man you’ve been begging to allow you into his heart, like you’ve done with yours.I get it, communication is difficult , but you’ve literally had your tongue so far up his ass you can taste the moans ripping from his throat but I guess talking about anything that’s actually a problem is just too damn much to ask for.
Side note: The symbolism of the cats was hilarious. Also, Seungho in his hunting outfit is an absolute mood and I’m looking into commissioning him as a stained glass window for my private bathing chambers. Sweating like a sinner in church just looking at him, I’ll tell ya what.
