There are few episodes of this show that make me want to scream more than this one, but it also made me realise something about this story and Seungho. But I’ll get to that in a bit.First, because yet again we get more backstory into Seungho’s past, it becomes harder to just dismiss him as a mere psycho, even though other characters in the story do, and I’ve read so many fandom comments that do.

Jihwa, barely past his boyhood, climbs over the estate wall, and finds Seungho in the chaotic and destroyed place of his confinement.

In this moment, I understand everything about how Seungho really feels about Jihwa; only ever a tool to infuriate his father and never seen as a real person. But it also says a lot about Jihwa, who has been going along with this for too many years. We have to witness Daddy Yoon violently confronting  Seungho and Jihwa having sex in a semi-public space, and it is distressing… Seungho, defiant to the end tells Jihwa he’ll see him soon.

The scorn and hatred on Daddy Yoon’s face… the beating and cruelty. (The hands I have for Daddy Yoon… the sword chops.)

But… Seungho knew that would happen.

Turns out Jihwa is telling this story to Min, and of course, evil, vile, nasty, pop down, ugli-ish (I can’t say he’s ugly, that disparages Seungho) is laughing. Thinks it’s the funniest shit… wipes tears from his eyes.

Elsewhere, Jihwa is still going directly to pieces. Fingers worn to nubs, but he’s clearly mistrustful of and has no great liking of Min… and really, what’s to like? Min says he is here to watch and enjoy Seungho’s downfall, no doubt to hasten it along as fast as possible. Loathsome toad of a man is Master Min.
Seungho, meanwhile… is in the woods stabbing the shit out of boars and looking sinfully good in his black and reds. (Listen… Seungho in black and red is a whole fucking mood.)

And this brings me to a very interesting observation that struck me with this episode.

Seungho doesn’t reveal anything of himself… to anyone really. He tells Nakyum how he feels about him, but we the reader never see Seungho telling anyone about his past. The information up until this season was always second hand. Another character would say something in passing, or like in this episode where Jihwa is retelling the tale for Min’s amusement.

Seungho himself, never speaks of his past or himself. Nakyum is the only person who even gets that kind of expression from Seungho… but never his history.

I wonder what it would be like if he told us what happened to him.

Finally, who the fuck is Lord Song, and why do I want to poison him already?
