Min is such a shit. Such a shit. How did he turn into the largest villain of the piece thus far?
How is Min trying to bully Nameless? Say what you want, but Nameless hasn’t actually hurt anyone yet, and he has only ever done as Jihwa asked. He doesn’t deserve that weasel Min thinking he can just mistreat him.I predict that if Nameless doesn’t kill the fuck out of Min it will only be because Seungho gets there first. These three wastels (Min mostly) are plotting some new deviltry. I’m absolutely not about this shit with Min anymore.
This is wickedness! It’s wickedness.: sigh : Our boys though. Once Seungho finds Nakyum cower in terror on the street, he becomes a rock for Nakyum to cling to, and Nakyum needed one so bad.
What that must be doing to Seungho internally? To be needed that much. For Nakyum to cling to him for comfort, and for him to be able and willing to give it so freely. And not just comfort, but indulgence.
The entire scene with the music box just continues to prove Mr Kim right in at least this: Seungho isn’t heartless. He’s not heartless at all. I think he’s been performing for an audience all this time. I think he’s probably got the biggest heart… he just needed Nakyum to find its location and measure its size for the suit Nakyum made for it.
Throughout the last two seasons, Seungho has flaunted society’s rules and mores in some glaring ways. In this time period, he is meant to be above commoners. He started out denying he’d ever have sex with a commoner, that he’d never embrace one… but here we are.
Over the last two seasons, Seungho has invaded Nakyum’s life, but he’s also taken responsibility for it. He has commanded his staff to care for Nakyum, he himself has spent money on Nakyum’s needs, he has bent his entire life around Nakyum.
We think of Seungho as just being capricious, but everything about his relationship with Nakyum is Seungho going against the grain, his rank, his wealth and position, just to be close to Nakyum.
And this beautiful closing sequence of Episode 76, he sits in the town square, indifferent to the townspeople and everything that makes him Lord Yoon Seungho, and just holds Nakyum as much as he needs.
This isn’t just about Seungho’s maturation, there is ample evidence of that. This is also about his prioritisation of his love, over his rank, which is also a huge deal in this time and place. He shows the entire town, that Nakyum is his partner. Already notorious for not caring about society’s rules, this is about him openly declaring that he loves this one person for all in Hanyang to see if they like.
Seungho knows that rumours spread fast, and he still doesn’t care.
As far as Nakyum has come to arrive at this moment, Seungho has come much further. What a lovely, soft and quiet end to a tumultuous and passionate season. (chicken plotting excepted). The story advanced so beautifully, and perfectly beat for beat, that I am eagerly awaiting what byeonduck will unleash on us for Season 3.
For now, the place Nakyum and Seungho. have arrived at after the power struggles and mistrust between them for the bulk of the two seasons, it makes my cold heart warm.
Bravo byeonduck. Exceptional work.
