We squeed ourselves to death reading the seventy-first episode of Painter of the Night by byeonduck, and then Seungho and Nakyum brought us back to life. If loving this manhwa is wrong, we will never, ever, ever be right. Ya’ll gonna just have to hate us.
Seungho is a fucking train… I know I joke about Nakyum being able to stop bullet trains, but the fact is: he doesn’t stand a chance against Seungho in full seduction mode.

For someone like me, who obsesses about Seunhgo’s back, this episode was the equivalent of running wild in a candy shop. So much eye candy.
The art in this episode (indeed this entire bath house sequence of episodes) is some of the most beautiful art byeonduck has produced across this entire manhwa.
This is among my favourite episodes, not just because Seungho starts simping like he’s been simping for Nakyum with his first breath and knows no other life. It’s one of my favourites because no matter how many times I read it, I’m in awe of byeonduck’s skill level, and the maturation of her art from the first episode to this one.
This is her absolutely finding a wide and confident stride with her characters, her narrative and her pen. God bless this woman’s pen. May the Wacom forever be fresh… may the stylus nib ever be sharp. I can merely tip my hat and find the coins to pay her in appreciation.
This episode was worth the “unlock all”.
Now about the smut: (because that is the bulk of the episode) I could not stop my squee the entire time. This is top tier stuff. I re-read this episode (for the two hundredth time) for this review and my heart beat fast, and my meow meow melted like it was the first time I read it. I literally could not breathe. And this is really my 200th odd reading. I spent November 2021 reading POTN on fucking repeat. Believe me when I tell you, this is an incredible fucking episode. The creator made this whole bath house sequence as a gift to the readers… so, so, so worth it.
The sex for the first time played out with feeling. Seungho was so unabashed, so solicitous, so fucking sexy it is the reason why we’re in a group where we all pretend to be Seungho’s servants. I mean, we were obsessed before now, but Simpin Seungho is a fucking glory to behold and a new found religion ’round here. Seungho doesn’t just seduce Nakyum, for the first time he makes love to him. And it’s generous, complete, unselfish and stirring to watch.
Listen, when he grabbed Nakyum’s foot and plainly said he’d stop right there and then, and pretty much left it all up to Nakyum… I screamed at 3.33AM in my kitchen and nearly dropped my iPad. And all Nakyum could say was ‘it’s too cold here’. Chile, stop fronting!!!!
His emotional demands are no less, his pressure on Nakyum no less, but Simpin Seungho is going to win.
Take my money Seungho. Take my body. Take everything… I don’t know what you need me to do baby, but say something , no matter how crazy, I’ll do my part.

This chapter was read, reread, and then read some more. The beauty, the symbolism, the sweet nothings, THE ROLE PLAY, the humbling of Seungho, the bluuuuushes. This chapter needs to be made into wallpaper so I can line my rooms and bask in the perfection, in the passion in their eyes, burning low and slow, like an underbrush fire.
