Finally Mr Kim does two things I approve of. First, he talks Seungho out of doing something additionally crazy in a day of doing crazy shit, and second, he started brewing some tea. Some tea for me!
What do you mean by “When I saw Nakyum locked in that shed the other day… I couldn’t help but but think of you, Master”? When was Seungho locked in the fucking shed? When?
And then, “…but the way you have been treating this boy of late, to me, you look no different than your father.”
I’m sorry… WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY MR KIM? Tell me everything and I might forgive you for being a spineless cholo.
He tells us that he knows that Seungho’s behaviour is largely in rebellion against his father, but the moment I caught my breath, was when he said “I believe it is not in your nature to be so heartless.” I nearly fucking choked on my spit.
The look Seungho gave him. Ooof! How bad is Daddy Yoon? Worse than Seungho? How? Fucking how?
Wait a gotdamn minute! Kim you clam! What else do you know? There is a buried bone here… I can smell it.
Considering how Seungho looks down on Mr Kim, I find it interesting that he didn’t dismiss Kim entirely with a handy slap to the jaw and go on a slashing rampage. It means that Seungho heard whatever Kim was pointing out, and thought him right enough , or felt chastened to adjust himself.
Once again he finds himself outside Nakyum’s door… where inside, Heena is also giving Nakyum very, very, very excellent advice that is totally wrong for these two and their relationship. However, I think it’s good if Seungho hears it, because maybe he can start to really think about his behaviour and how it affects the person he cares about.
And while Nakyum can’t yet be honest with Seungho, he can be a little more honest with Heena… and he is. Nakyum is battling mightily, and quite rightly so. He should feel conflicted. Seungho swings too wildly to get a bead on, and unless he’s willing to change, it makes finding stability with him difficult if not impossible. It makes trust impossible.
So Heena’s advice is absolutely correct…. just absolutely wrong for Seungho and Nakyum.
Heena too doesn’t see Nakyum’s flaws, she like Inhun sees Nakyum as a child, an innocent, frozen in time. I think any such definitions applied to Nakyum is erroneous. As I have previously said, no one that paints pictures of men copulating and drinks himself into a stupor to forget such images, and his own nature and desires, is innocent.
That is fanciful rubbish that does Nakyum a real disservice.
Nakyum is inexperienced… and a little shy. That’s it. Heena doesn’t see Nakyum either, just the version of him she’s comfortable with. And this is why her advice is both good and bad. Her advice doesn’t weigh Nakyum’s faults and the potential balance he could gain from someone like Seungho who doesn’t have a shame bone, a modest bone, or humble bone. He’s got a dick bone, and that’s the one that kinda counts when you’re obsessed with painting naked men having sex. More specifically, Seungho has always, always, before he even met Nakyum, seen Nakyum.
While Seungho’s flaws are more glaring and come with a hefty dose of privilege, Nakyum and Seungho are mirrors of each other. They each have what the other needs right now.
I hope Seungho heard everything! Think about your actions young man! You can’t rebel against your father forever, and you cannot keep using it as an excuse to slash and cut at everything you deem in opposition to your whims and fancies. That part of your life, must come to an end to make and keep Nakyum safe.
Grow the fuck up Seungho… or you’ll lose the first and only person you’ve ever had feelings for. But sigh, the story can’t end too soon.
Heena, who’s your daddy?? Dr. Phil??!
This girl is a damn genius and she is spitting straight facts at our bb. I obviously want him and Seungho together forever, but the rational, educated part of me is screeching Stockholm Syndrome/Gaslighting/Manipulation and frothing for justice.
But thank goodness Mr. Kim was there to talk Seungho down. But my heart hurts thinking he might have overheard any of that…
